Little Gap Covered Bridge

Little Gap Covered Bridge is a wooden structure crossing Aquashicola Creek with a Burr Truss design that incorporates engineering techniques from the Howe truss system. The bridge functions as an active road crossing and remains open to vehicle and foot traffic today.

The bridge was built between 1840 and 1860 during a period when such structures played a vital role in crossing waterways throughout rural Pennsylvania. This era marked a crucial time for settling and connecting communities in the region.

The bridge carries cultural weight in the area, evidenced by local businesses and landmarks that reference its presence in their names and identity. This connection shows how a simple road structure became part of how people think about their neighborhood.

Parking is available on both sides of the bridge, with additional spaces in a nearby former business property. The site is freely accessible, allowing visitors to walk or drive across at any time without restrictions.

This is one of only two remaining covered bridges across the entire four-county Poconos region of Pennsylvania. Its rarity makes it a notable survivor from an earlier era of infrastructure and engineering.
