New York Coliseum, former convention center in New York City
The New York Coliseum was a convention center located at Columbus Circle in Manhattan that hosted trade shows and exhibitions. Built between 1956 and 1960, the facility served as a major venue for conferences, large public gatherings, and commercial events throughout its operation.
The building opened in 1960 and remained a central venue for trade shows and exhibitions in New York for three decades. It closed in 2000 and was later demolished to make way for new development.
The building no longer exists and cannot be visited today. The site at Columbus Circle remains a busy traffic hub and important landmark for orientation in Manhattan.
The structure was notable for its monumental architecture featuring large concrete grilles that echoed brutalist design principles. This distinctive appearance made it a recognizable architectural landmark that left a strong impression on many visitors.
