15 Central Park West, Residential skyscraper at Central Park West, Manhattan, US.
Fifteen Central Park West is a residential tower along the western edge of Central Park in Manhattan, formed by two connected sections that rise in pale limestone against the skyline. Both parts display large windows with metal balconies, while stepped setbacks give the complex a classical silhouette.
The complex rose starting in 2008 on the site of the former Mayflower Hotel, which had stood at this address since 1926 and was later demolished. Developers acquired the land for a substantial sum and commissioned an architect who wanted to draw on classical New York residential buildings.
The tower stands along one of Manhattan's most sought-after addresses, with a limestone exterior that echoes the traditional residential buildings of the Upper West Side. Residents enter through a lobby designed with classical proportions, while the layout recalls the spacious prewar apartments that define the neighborhood's character.
Access is limited to residents and their guests, so any visit from outside remains confined to viewing the exterior. Those interested in seeing the architecture up close can walk along the street and observe the proportions from the sidewalk.
The two sections reach different heights, with the taller part measuring roughly 550 feet (168 meters) and the shorter around 231 feet (70 meters), creating a staggered composition. This arrangement allows more apartments to enjoy open views of the park, while the setbacks break up the mass of the structure.
