Oil Creek State Park

Oil Creek State Park encompasses 6,250 acres of forested land with numerous hiking trails, streams, and remnants of historical oil extraction equipment throughout the grounds.

The park marks the location where the first commercial oil well in the United States was drilled in 1859, initiating the Pennsylvania oil rush and industrial transformation.

The Gerard Hiking Trail tells the story of 19th-century oil extraction through preserved equipment, abandoned settlements, and interpretive signs along its 36-mile loop.

Visitors can access multiple parking areas, restrooms, picnic facilities, and camping grounds while exploring the park's extensive network of hiking and biking trails.

The Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad operates through the park, offering passengers views of Miller Falls and other industrial artifacts from the 1800s oil boom.
