Seneca Caverns, Show cave in Riverton, West Virginia, US

Seneca Caverns extends through limestone formations with Teter Hall measuring 60 feet in height and width as its largest underground chamber.

The first documented exploration of Seneca Caverns took place in 1781 by Reverend Francis Asbury, marking the beginning of its recorded history.

The cave property, purchased by German-American settler Phillip Dieter in the 1770s, reflects the early European settlement patterns in West Virginia.

The cave maintains a year-round temperature of 54 degrees Fahrenheit, requiring visitors to bring appropriate clothing for the high humidity environment.

The underground network features a natural water system called Ole Mistry River, which flows through the cave's lower levels.
