Spittoono, Charity music festival in Central, South Carolina, US

Spittoono is a three-day music festival featuring regional bands performing rock, country, bluegrass, and blues in an open field. The event covers its costs through t-shirt and beverage sales rather than ticket purchases.

This festival was created in 1981 as a playful response to Charleston's better-known Spoleto festival, started by the Redneck Performing Arts Association. Over the decades it grew from that humorous beginning into an established community event.

Local musicians perform here and directly support the community through their time and talents. The event shows how music brings neighbors together and inspires people to help each other.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to get comfortable in the open field at the Eighteen Mile Road grounds. Since the event spans multiple days, plan which performances interest you most and take breaks between acts to enjoy the surroundings.

The festival's unusual name was created as a playful invention and admission remains free to this day. This combination of the quirky name and no-admission approach makes it a distinctive gathering in the region.
