Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, Contemporary art gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan, US.
Tanya Bonakdar Gallery is a contemporary art space on West 21st Street in Chelsea, Manhattan, spread over two exhibition floors showing paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, and video works. The shows rotate throughout the year across several carefully arranged rooms.
The gallery opened in SoHo in 1994 and moved to West 21st Street in Chelsea four years later, where it established itself in the contemporary art scene. A second location followed in Los Angeles in 2018.
The gallery shows work by around 30 international artists, ranging from painting and sculpture to experimental media. Visitors can experience art that approaches everyday perception in unexpected ways.
The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday and does not require advance booking to visit. It sits in the heart of Chelsea's gallery district, where many other art spaces are within easy walking distance.
The gallery takes part regularly in international art fairs such as Art Basel, Frieze, and The Armory Show, connecting its artists with collectors and institutions around the world. This sets it apart from many other galleries in the neighborhood, which tend to focus on local or regional audiences.
