Tanya Bonakdar Gallery

Tanya Bonakdar Gallery is a contemporary art space in Chelsea occupying two exhibition floors that display paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, and video works. The gallery spans approximately 5,000 square feet and rotates shows throughout the year across its carefully designed rooms.

The gallery was founded in SoHo in 1994 and relocated to West 21st Street in Chelsea four years later, becoming a significant presence in the contemporary art scene. A second location opened in Los Angeles in 2018, extending its reach beyond New York.

The gallery showcases work from around 30 international artists, with a focus on pieces that explore questions of materiality, form, and human experience. Visitors encounter art that ranges from painting and sculpture to more experimental media that challenges conventional ways of seeing.

The space is open Tuesday through Saturday without requiring advance reservations to view the exhibitions. Located in Chelsea's art district, it is easily accessible by public transportation and surrounded by other galleries and museums.

The gallery has participated in major international art fairs such as Art Basel, Frieze, and The Armory Show, connecting its artists to collectors and institutions worldwide. This involvement in the global art market circuit distinguishes it from many neighborhood galleries.
