Triangle Lake Bog State Nature Preserve, Nature reserve in Rootstown Township, United States.
Triangle Lake Bog is a 61-acre protected wetland featuring dark acidic waters encircled by a floating sphagnum mat near Ravenna. The terrain displays a kettle hole landscape carved out by glacial activity in prehistoric times.
The site formed thousands of years ago when glacial activity created a kettle hole depression. Over time this depression developed into the wetland ecosystem that exists today.
The wetland functions as a place where visitors encounter rare carnivorous plants and learn about the importance of protecting natural habitats. It serves the community as a teaching space for understanding the natural world and why these ecosystems matter.
A short walking trail with interpretive signs guides visitors through the preserve and offers wheelchair access plus parking along Sandy Lake Road. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the wetland is most easily accessible.
The preserve contains northern pitcher plants, round-leaved sundew, and tamarack trees that form one of the state's most complete kettle hole bog examples. This specific combination of specialized plant species is uncommon in Ohio.
