The protected area encompasses 17,080 hectares of land, containing diverse ecosystems from the Llanos de Chiquitos and Gran Chaco regions.
Founded in 1561 and established as a national park in 1989, this site marks the original location where Spanish colonizers built the first settlement of Santa Cruz.
Archaeological findings within the park include indigenous ceramics, necklaces, weaving tools, and Spanish colonial artifacts that reflect the mixed heritage of the region.
Located 3 kilometers from San José de Chiquitos and 265 kilometers from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, the park maintains perimeter walls from the colonial period.
The park combines natural preservation with archaeological research, featuring species such as capuchin monkeys and yellow tajibo trees alongside colonial ruins.
