Klassik Stiftung Weimar, Cultural foundation and heritage monument in Weimar, Germany.
Klassik Stiftung Weimar oversees more than twenty museums, palaces, historic houses, and parks spread throughout the city. These institutions hold art collections and literary works that span centuries of German cultural development.
The foundation formed in 2003 by merging two earlier institutions to manage Weimar's cultural heritage from one central body. This consolidation created a single organization responsible for preserving the city's historical legacy.
The institution preserves the legacy of Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Franz Liszt, and Friedrich Nietzsche through their residences and collected works.
Visitors can use the Weimar+ app to access audio guides for museums, parks, and the city center. Plan to spend time at multiple locations since the properties are spread throughout the city.
The foundation manages eleven sites within the Classical Weimar World Heritage area, including the Fürstengruft where Goethe and Schiller are buried. This creates a remarkable connection where the homes of two major German writers lead to a shared memorial.
