Located at 30.79N and 30.60E, the settlement contains excavated structures, including a temple complex and extensive burial grounds dating from 2500 BC.

The location served as the capital of the third nome of Lower Egypt, with archaeological evidence indicating continuous habitation from the Old Kingdom through Middle Kingdom periods.

The site reveals significant religious connections through inscriptions and artifacts dedicated to the goddess Hathor, referred to as the Mistress of Imu in ancient texts.

Visitors can examine two remaining statues of Ramesses II at the location, while additional artifacts from the site are displayed in the Cairo Museum.

Excavations between 1943 and 1949 revealed over one thousand graves, including distinctive warrior group burials and numerous child remains with minimal grave items.
