Al-Amasyali house

The al-Amasyali house is a residential building in Rosetta with many windows decorated with traditional lattice patterns and lantern-like light fixtures on its outer walls. The window design and openings allow fresh air to move naturally throughout the entire structure.

This house was built in 1808 and shows the architecture and building methods used in early 19th-century Egypt. Its construction preserves the techniques and design choices that were common at that time.

The main reception room features a screened wooden gallery that allowed women to watch daily activities while staying hidden from view. This design reflects how people organized private and public spaces in their homes.

You can reach the building by walking four blocks from the central souq and turning left onto Sharia Port Said. The entrance fee covers both this house and the Abu Shaheen house.

The ceilings throughout the building show detailed painted patterns in red and blue colors. This painted decoration reveals the skilled craftsmanship of Egyptian artisans working during the early 1800s.
