Michinoku Traditional Wooden Boat Museum

The Michinoku Traditional Wooden Boat Museum displays an extensive collection of fishing vessels and maritime equipment from the Tsugaru Strait region.

Established in 1999, the museum transformed into the Aomori Museum of History in 2015, marking a shift in the preservation of local heritage.

The museum houses the Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property Collection, featuring traditional mudamahagi fishing boats that reflect regional maritime traditions.

Located at 2-1 Okidate ni-chōme, the museum welcomes visitors daily between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM with educational programs for schools.

The collection presents specialized fishing vessels designed for the specific conditions of northern Japanese waters and local fishing methods.
