Aomori City Hall, Administrative center in central Aomori, Japan
Aomori City Hall is a modern three-story administrative building in the city center with a steel frame structure. It contains office spaces, a basement level, and a distinctive tower section that houses various municipal departments.
The building replaced an older administrative structure and was constructed between January 2018 and October 2019. It opened to the public in January 2020, marking a transition to a new phase for municipal governance.
The city hall organizes local education programs, international exchange activities, and community lectures focusing on regional traditions.
The main office location is in Central 1-chome in the city center, with a branch office at the Auga commercial complex for citizen services. Visitors can access administrative services at either location depending on their needs.
The initial design plans called for a ten-story building but were revised to create the three-story structure that now stands. This change reflected a reconsideration of how the building should fit within the surrounding neighborhood.
