Aomori Stadium, Baseball stadium in Aomori, Japan.
Aomori Stadium is a baseball facility set inside Gappo Park, in the city of Aomori, in northern Japan. The playing field has different distances on each side, and the stands can hold around 10,000 spectators.
The stadium opened in 1950 and was one of the first baseball venues built in the Tohoku region after the war. Renovation work carried out around 2000 updated the structure and kept it in active use for competitions.
High school baseball tournaments held here draw large crowds of students, families, and teachers who follow their local teams with great enthusiasm. These events are a deeply rooted tradition in Japan, where school baseball carries a strong emotional weight for entire communities.
The stadium sits inside Gappo Park, which makes it easy to combine a visit with a walk through the surrounding green area. Checking the schedule in advance is helpful, as game days can draw large crowds and change the feel of the park entirely.
In 1950, just after the stadium opened, pitcher Hideo Fujimoto threw a perfect game here, retiring every batter he faced without allowing a single player to reach base. A perfect game is one of the rarest achievements in baseball, and this one happened in the very first year the venue was in use.
