Gamagōri Museum of Earth, Life and the Sea

The Gamagōri Museum of Earth, Life and the Sea is a natural history museum in Gamagori displaying fossils, meteorites, and marine specimens organized across three floors. An interactive digital globe and detailed exhibits of prehistoric ocean life form the core of the collection.

The institution opened in 1999 as part of growing efforts to advance science education in the Aichi region. Its establishment reflected a turning point in how earth sciences and marine research were presented to the public.

The museum explores how coastal communities have lived alongside the sea through exhibits that reveal the connection between people and marine resources. Visitors can observe how this relationship has shaped local traditions and daily life over time.
