Mount Kagami

Mount Kagami rises 284 meters above Karatsu City, presenting views of Karatsu Bay, the Niji no Matsubara pine grove, and the silhouette of Iki Island.

The mountain appears in the Manyoshu, an eighth-century anthology of Japanese poetry, where its presence signifies the cultural importance of the region.

The Kagamiyama Shrine at the summit features red torii gates and Inari statues, reflecting traditional Japanese religious practices and architectural elements.

Visitors can reach the mountain peak through a 4-kilometer winding road, with free parking available at the summit and regular bus service from Karatsu.

The mountain slopes serve as a launch point for hang-gliding and paragliding activities, while spring brings a natural tunnel of cherry blossoms.
