光の楽園, Theme park in Akeno, Japan
Hikari no Rakuen is a themed area in Akeno, Yamanashi, spread across grounds that feature gardens, dining venues, and lodging options in the main zones. The site combines recreational facilities with natural landscapes designed for visitors to enjoy seasonal flowers and outdoor experiences.
The facility first opened on April 8, 1995, in the Asakao district of Akeno Village, a region famous for receiving the highest sunlight hours in Japan. The venue eventually ceased operations but remains notable for its connection to this particularly bright area of the country.
The park's mascots, Cook and Nana, represented the facility's commitment to harmonizing earth's environment, nature, and human interaction.
The site is spread across a wide area, so plan for walking between different sections to see all parts of the grounds. Visiting during spring or autumn offers the best views since seasonal changes enhance the natural surroundings throughout the property.
The property offered accommodation in lodge structures inspired by Mongolian tent architecture, providing visitors with a distinctive lodging experience rarely found elsewhere in Japan. This architectural approach allowed guests to experience a housing style adapted from a different culture and landscape.
