Dairy Farming Kingdom Oratche

Dairy Farming Kingdom Oratche is an agricultural complex and theme park spread across the Tanna Basin featuring ten dairy farms that collectively house and care for around 1,000 dairy cows. The site combines active animal husbandry with visitor activities on a large working farm property.

The operation was founded in 1881 when Akihei Kawaguchi began raising cattle and horses on the fertile lands of Shizuoka Prefecture. This early cattle farming tradition forms the foundation for the agricultural heritage that continues today.

The complex demonstrates Japanese farming methods through organic practices that connect livestock care with soil health and food production. Visitors can observe how animals and land work together in the daily operations here.

The site offers hands-on activities such as cow milking, butter making, vegetable harvesting, and feeding animals under normal operating conditions. Wear appropriate footwear and check opening times before arriving, as activities depend on farm operations and weather.

The on-site dairy produces soft-serve ice cream within eight hours of milking, guaranteeing exceptional freshness in every serving. Daily sales can reach 2,000 servings during busy periods, showing how quickly visitors devour this locally made treat.
