Natori Earthquake Disaster Memorial Park

The memorial park encompasses five distinct zones including a Prayer Zone, Rest Zone, Ocean-facing Zone, Hiyoriyama Zone, and Remembrance and Memorial Zone.

The park commemorates the March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami that claimed 965 lives in Natori, with 80 percent of casualties in Yuriage district.

The memorial structure reaches 8.4 meters tall, representing the exact height of the tsunami wave, while ceramic tiles display photographs of the pre-disaster landscape.

The memorial park connects to the Natori City Earthquake Reconstruction Museum, offering visitors comprehensive information about disaster recovery and prevention measures.

Flat blocks made from earthquake debris form an educational display within the Remembrance Zone, creating physical representations of the area before destruction.
