Musashi Kokufu, Archaeological park in Fuchū, Japan
The excavated ruins reveal foundations of administrative buildings, including a central hall and three north-south oriented columned structures within a 100-meter square enclosure.
The Musashi provincial capital operated from the early 8th century until the late 10th century, serving as the administrative center for 21 districts of Musashi Province.
Archaeological findings include roof tiles and bricks marked with the names of 19 out of 21 districts, demonstrating the administrative organization of ancient Japan.
The site features informative panels and preserved excavation areas, located near the Ōkunitama Shrine, accessible via the Keiō Line to Fuchū Station.
The archaeological remains contain evidence of structural evolution from wooden post buildings to stone foundation architecture during the 8th century.
