Gayang Bridge

Gayang Bridge, Road bridge in Seoul, South Korea

Gayang Bridge is a road bridge in Seoul that spans the Han River and connects Gangseo District with Mapo District through a steel box girder structure. The bridge accommodates multiple traffic lanes for vehicles crossing between the western districts.

The bridge was completed in 2002 as a collaborative construction project involving major South Korean companies. This infrastructure development aimed to improve transportation connections in Seoul's western regions.

The Korean name Gayang means connecting two sides together, fitting for a structure that links the western districts and carries thousands of people daily across the river.

The bridge is open daily for buses and cars connecting the western districts on a direct route. Pedestrians and cyclists should note that traffic can be heavy and alternative crossings are recommended during peak hours.

The main span stretches about 180 meters and is supported by concrete piers using advanced engineering techniques typical of South Korean infrastructure design. This engineering approach allows the structure to handle heavy loads while maintaining durability over time.
