Walnut of Yuri Nikulin, Botanical natural monument near Luchistoye village, Crimea

The Walnut of Yuri Nikulin is an old tree located near Luchistoye village at the entrance to the Valley of Ghosts next to Mount Demerdzhi. The tree stands about 12 meters tall with a trunk circumference of about 4.3 meters.

The tree received its name in 1966 when the Soviet comedy 'Kidnapping, Caucasian Style' was filmed in the area. The well-known actor climbed this tree to perform a scene for the movie.

The tree became a significant filming location for Soviet comedies and is connected to the country's cinema history. Visitors can walk to the same spot where memorable movie scenes were created.

You can reach the tree by taking bus route 107 from Alushta to Luchistoye village. From there, a short uphill walk of about 100 meters brings you to the entrance of Ghost Valley.

The monument received its official status only in 2011 following a major restoration. The work was carried out by a center from Kyiv that focuses on ecological and cultural preservation.
