Horne Creek Living Historical Farm, Historical farm and National Register site in Surry County, United States.
Horne Creek Living Historical Farm is a working farm in Surry County with a two-story log house covered in weatherboard and furnished with period pieces from the early 1900s. The grounds feature original farm structures and an orchard containing hundreds of historic apple varieties.
John Hauser acquired a 100-acre tract in 1830, which later expanded to 450 acres under Thomas Hauser's management. The property's growth reflects the agricultural development of the Piedmont region over the 1800s.
The farm shows traditional farming methods and heritage livestock breeds that shaped life in the region. Visitors can see how people once worked the land and managed their daily agricultural routines.
The property is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM with no admission fee required. Only service animals are permitted on the grounds, so other pets cannot come along.
The orchard holds about 800 trees representing 400 different historical apple varieties, preserving genetic diversity from past centuries. This collection stands as one of the most extensive heritage apple collections in the region.
