Ashgabat National Museum of History

The three-story museum complex spans 15,000 square meters, featuring a central hall with a blue dioctahedral dome supported by five columns representing Turkmenistan provinces.

Established in 1998 as the first among 26 museums after Turkmenistan independence, the institution preserves artifacts from ancient sites including Nisa, Merv, and Gonur.

The museum holds 166,000 items across seven galleries, displaying archaeological findings, ancient carpets, traditional clothing, and historical weapons from Turkmenistan regions.

Located at 30 Archabil Avenue, the museum operates from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Wednesday through Monday, with guided tours available in Turkmen and English.

The central dome contains 16 facets symbolizing Turkic states, while the building incorporates Finnish granite, Turkish materials, and gilded horse statues in surrounding gardens.
