Olympic Stadium

The Olympic Stadium in Ashgabat is a large sports complex with seating for around 45,000 people and facilities designed for various sports activities. The grounds include multiple indoor halls, hotels, and connect different areas through landscaped pathways and decorative water features.

The stadium was built in the early 2000s and named after the nation's founding leader, becoming a major civic project. It underwent a complete overhaul in recent years to update its facilities and structures.

The design reflects local architectural traditions through extensive use of white marble and regional building techniques visible throughout the complex. Walking around, you notice how these elements give the place a distinctive character that feels connected to the country's identity.

The grounds are quite spacious, so it's worth allowing plenty of time for a visit and wearing comfortable shoes. Different sections are well connected by marked paths, though distances between areas can be significant.

Rising above the grounds is a massive horse sculpture with a burning flame mounted at its peak, hovering high over the city. This unusual combination makes it one of the area's most striking architectural symbols.
