Battlestar Galactica, Steel roller coaster at Universal Studios Singapore.
Battlestar Galactica is a dual-track roller coaster at Universal Studios Singapore. One track suspends riders upside down, while the other keeps them on a traditional seat, and both reach heights of around 43 meters.
The attraction opened in March 2010 as one of the first major rides in the park. After several technical overhauls, the vehicles were redesigned to improve safety and comfort.
The themed environment places riders inside a fictional conflict from the television series, with red Colonial Viper trains representing humanity. The blue Cylon Raider trains symbolize the machines, and both sides appear to race against each other.
Riders can choose between the Cylon track with five inversions or the Human track without inversions, both reaching speeds of around 90 kilometers per hour (56 miles per hour). Queues can be long, especially on weekends, so arriving early helps.
The trains launch simultaneously using linear motors, creating several apparent near-misses between the two tracks. The closest encounter happens right after launch, when both tracks cross on parallel rails.
