Southern Ridges

Southern Ridges is an elevated hiking trail system in central Singapore that connects Mount Faber Park to Kent Ridge Park through elevated walkways across parks and green spaces. The network consists of linked sections passing through various natural areas, creating continuous pathways that tie together multiple parks in the region.

The network emerged from Singapore's urban planning initiative in the 2000s to link existing natural areas and create continuous green corridors throughout the city. This project reflected the country's broader effort to weave more green space into urban development.

Residents use the trail for morning exercise routines and practice tai chi in designated spots, making fitness a visible part of daily life. These spaces have become gathering places where people connect with others while staying active in nature.

Multiple entry points near MRT stations and parking areas provide easy access with clear signage throughout the connected park system. Wear suitable footwear and be prepared for varying elevation changes, as the trail includes several uphill and downhill sections.

The Henderson Waves bridge rises 36 meters above Henderson Road, featuring a wooden deck and curved steel ribs that form sheltered alcoves. This distinctive structure provides rest spots with city views while offering shade during hot afternoons.
