MAYA Mexican, Mexican restaurant in Fortitude Valley, Australia.
MAYA Mexican occupies a rooftop dining space in Fortitude Valley offering panoramic views toward Story Bridge, Mount Coot-tha, and Brisbane's surrounding hills. The venue spreads across a large floor plan with distinct areas designed for different group sizes and seating preferences.
The restaurant launched in 2020 as a temporary six-month pop-up on the site formerly occupied by Eleven Rooftop. What started as an experimental venture proved successful enough to become a permanent fixture.
The kitchen draws from the food traditions of Mexico's Maya region, serving dishes rooted in Coastal Pacific, Yucatan, and Sonoran cooking styles while using produce sourced from Australian farms and markets.
The venue operates Wednesday through Thursday from noon until 11 PM, Friday to Saturday until 3 AM, and Sundays until midnight. Parking is accessible at the nearby McWhirters building, just a short walk from the entrance.
White marble counters, olive trees, and translucent curtain-draped cabins create separate gathering spots throughout the rooftop. These design touches allow groups to watch sunsets over Mount Coot-tha while still enjoying a sense of privacy within the larger space.
