A Baianeira
A Baianeira is a restaurant in the Bela Vista District that serves Brazilian regional cuisine. The restaurant occupies a larger space and offers daily changing dishes such as rice and beans, fish stew, and chicken with rice, complemented by a carefully chosen drink menu.
The restaurant was founded in 2019 by chef Manuelle Ferraz, who comes from the Vale do Jequitinhonha region and brings her regional roots into her cooking. After moving from a smaller location, it now operates in a larger, brighter space with updated design.
The restaurant is named after a Bahian cook and reflects the culinary traditions of the Bahia region. The space displays works by local Brazilian artists, and its dishes tell stories of women who shaped the country's food culture.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday and on Sundays, closed on Mondays. The space offers comfortable seating, and the staff is happy to help with food and drink selections as well as reservation requests.
The restaurant allows guests to bring their own wine for a small corkage fee. What stands out is its focus on often-overlooked ingredients presented in ways that honor traditional Brazilian flavors without modernization.
