Royal Palace Museum, State museum in Via Balbi, Genoa, Italy
The Royal Palace Museum displays original furniture, decorations, frescoes, paintings, and statues throughout its grand halls and ceremonial rooms.
The palace construction started in 1618 for the Balbi family, followed by ownership changes to Durazzo family in 1677 and Savoy family in 1823.
The museum collection includes works by Van Dyck, Tintoretto, and Rubens, along with sculptures by Filippo Parodi and frescoes by Valerio Castello.
The museum opens from Wednesday to Thursday 9:00-19:00, Tuesday 9:00-14:00, with different weekend hours and remains closed on Mondays.
The Gallery of Mirrors demonstrates the influence of European trade connections on Genoese aristocratic tastes through its ornate decorative elements.
