National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation, Archaeological museum in Fustat district, Cairo, Egypt
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization spans 33.5 acres, featuring 50,000 artifacts that illustrate the progression of Egyptian civilization through multiple eras.
The museum project originated in 1982 through a UNESCO international campaign, with foundation stone placement occurring in 2002 and official opening in April 2021.
The museum contains nine exhibition halls presenting artifacts from prehistoric times through modern Egypt, including royal mummies and manuscripts from different periods.
The museum welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with separate ticket pricing for Egyptian nationals and international visitors.
The museum overlooks the natural Ain El-Sira Lake and includes an ancient dye house discovered during construction excavations in 2003.
