Reduccion Jesuitica Our Lady Del Pilar

The Our Lady Del Pilar museum presents religious artifacts, historical objects, and cultural exhibits within restored colonial structures near Mar del Plata.

Founded in 1746 by Jesuit missionaries Cardiel and Falkner, this settlement gathered 300 indigenous people into a structured community focused on religious education.

The museum displays original religious figurines, silver objects, and agricultural tools that demonstrate the fusion between European and indigenous practices during colonial times.

Located at kilometer 14.5 of Provincial Route 226, the museum contains replicas of the original chapel and three period houses for visitors to explore.

The settlement earned township status in 1751 with its own council, marking a rare instance of indigenous administrative autonomy in colonial Argentina.
