Zoológico de Batán, Wildlife park in Batán, Mar del Plata, Argentina.
The Zoológico de Batán is a wildlife park spread across 10 hectares with areas housing over 300 animal species from Argentina and around the globe. The layout divides the grounds into different sections, each designed to accommodate specific animal groups.
The park began in 2005 as a private reptile collection and grew into a complete wildlife center under owners Daniel Chidini and Silvia Sabugal. This growth shows how a specialized interest developed into a larger visitor destination.
The zoo works with local schools and offers visitors chances to learn about the animals and their natural habitats in a hands-on way. Many families visit to introduce their children to wildlife in an informal and engaging setting.
The zoo opens daily from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM in winter and until 7:00 PM in summer, so visitors can plan based on the season. Comfortable shoes are important since the grounds are large and require significant walking.
A 120-meter section uses natural terrain engineering with artificial slopes instead of traditional fencing to contain animals within their spaces. This design approach creates a less invasive setting that gives animals more room to roam.
