The cathedral functions as the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mar del Plata, established in 1957 to serve the growing Catholic community.
Located at Plaza San Martín in the center of Mar del Plata, the cathedral maintains regular Mass schedules and welcomes visitors throughout the week.
Five bells ring from the cathedral's tower, while inside, visitors find French chandeliers and English tiled floors combining international craftsmanship.
