Xcacel Beach, Protected beach and park in Tulum, Mexico.

Xcacel Beach is a protected coastal area in Tulum with white sand and turquoise water backed by dense jungle. The site includes access to Cenote Xcacelito, a freshwater sinkhole surrounded by mangroves that lies just inland from the shore.

The beach has been a nesting site for sea turtles for centuries, which led to its protection as a wildlife sanctuary. This history of marine life shaped the decision to preserve the place as it is today.

The beach serves as a nesting ground where visitors can observe local teams monitoring turtle nests and protecting the animals during breeding season. This work reflects how the community actively cares for the marine life that depends on this place.

The beach is accessible via marked pathways and shaded areas under trees where visitors can rest while exploring the different zones. The site is easier to navigate in the morning hours when it is less crowded.

Cenote Xcacelito was historically part of an extensive underground cave system used by the ancient Maya for water and spiritual purposes. Few visitors realize that this freshwater source connects to a larger hidden network beneath the peninsula.
