Tulum Beach

Tulum Beach is a public shoreline on the Caribbean featuring turquoise waters and white sand bordered by limestone cliffs and palm vegetation. The seabed remains relatively shallow near the coast before dropping off into deeper areas further out.

Ancient Mayan ruins sit on the cliffs above this beach, dating back to the 13th century when the site served as a major trading port. The settlement remained a functioning center for regional commerce until the arrival of Spanish explorers.

Local fishing families practice methods that have been part of coastal life for generations, visible in how they work the waters daily. These traditions remain woven into the rhythm of the community around the shore.

Multiple public access points and beach clubs allow visitors to reach the water from different locations along the shore. Facilities like restrooms, showers, and shaded areas are scattered throughout to serve beachgoers.

Sea turtles arrive on protected sections of the beach to nest between May and October, with eggs monitored in designated zones during this period. This breeding season transforms the shore into a crucial refuge for the species.
