Cenote Car Wash

Cenote Car Wash is a natural limestone sinkhole in Quintana Roo with a wide opening that descends toward the water below. The entrance sits relatively exposed, allowing straightforward access to the underground pool within the cave.

The sinkhole formed through the collapse of limestone over underground waters, a geological process that unfolded over thousands of years. These natural formations held vital importance for ancient Maya settlements throughout the region.

The site is reachable by local roads and sits in a less crowded area, making independent exploration possible. Terrain can be slippery, so sturdy footwear and caution when descending are advisable.

The name comes from its unusual appearance, resembling a natural washing spot or basin. The water here displays the deep blue coloring that characterizes cenotes in this region, visible when sunlight reaches the surface.
