Pink Beach

Pink Beach is a coastal area in Manggarai Barat where the sand displays a soft rosy hue created by the mixture of white sand and red coral fragments from nearby reefs. The shallow, clear water in front of the shore makes it easy to see fish and corals just below the surface.

This beach became part of Komodo National Park, which received protection as a UNESCO World Heritage site to safeguard the region's marine life. The designation has helped preserve the natural environment and the ecosystems of the surrounding waters over time.

Local fishermen maintain their traditional practices along Pink Beach, continuing generations-old methods of sustainable fishing in the adjacent waters.

This location is accessible only by boat from Labuan Bajo, so arrange water transportation before heading out. The journey takes between one and two hours, so start early to have enough time for swimming and exploring the coral.

The pink sand is not just visually striking but also a sign of healthy coral in the surrounding waters, since the red fragments come from living reef systems. This unusual coloring is rare in the region and draws visitors who want to see this distinctive natural phenomenon.
