Salmon Bay Beach

Salmon Bay Beach is a natural beach in Peaceful Bay with long stretches of white sand bordered by limestone cliffs rising steeply from the water. Behind the shoreline, sand dunes form a natural backdrop to the entire beach.

The beach is part of D'Entrecasteaux National Park, established in 1980 to protect the coastal landscapes of Western Australia. This protection has helped keep the area in its natural state.

Local fishermen gather at this beach during specific seasons to catch Australian salmon, keeping alive traditions that have been passed down through generations.

Getting to the beach requires a short walk through the dunes from the parking area. Be aware that mobile phone coverage is limited here, so plan accordingly.

From September to June, a viewing platform at Tookulup allows visitors to watch whales migrating through the Southern Ocean. This yearly occurrence draws people who want to see these marine creatures in their natural setting.
