Columbia icefield, Suspension bridge and tourist attraction in the Canadian Rockies.

Columbia Icefield is a tourist site in the Canadian Rockies featuring a glass-floored suspension bridge that spans across a cliff face. The bridge overlooks glaciers and mountain formations in an alpine setting.

The ice formations developed during the last Ice Age thousands of years ago. In recent decades the glaciers have retreated noticeably, reshaping the landscape.

The name reflects the vast ice formations that dominate the landscape and shape how people experience this mountain region. Visitors come here to witness the raw power of nature and gain respect for the environmental forces at work.

Wear sturdy footwear and dress in layers suitable for high altitude and changing weather conditions. Plan your visit between May and October when conditions are most favorable.

The walkway features a glass floor section that allows visitors to look directly down at the landscape below. This unusual design creates an intense experience and lets you view the terrain from a perspective not easily found elsewhere.
