Columbia icefield, Suspension bridge and tourist attraction in the Canadian Rockies.

The Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure features a glass-floored suspension bridge extending 400 meters along a cliff face, positioned 300 meters above the Sunwapta Valley floor, offering panoramic views of glaciers and alpine formations.

The Columbia Icefield has existed for thousands of years since the last Ice Age, with its glaciers having retreated significantly over recent decades due to climate change, revealing new landscapes and serving as indicators of environmental shifts.

Indigenous peoples have revered these lands for generations, sharing traditional knowledge and oral histories that deepen understanding of the region's historical importance and ongoing conservation efforts in preserving glacial ecosystems.

The attraction operates seasonally from May through October with hours from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, requiring shuttle transfers from the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre and allowing 45 to 60 minutes for visitors to explore the walkway.

Visitors can walk on a glass-bottomed platform suspended nearly 1,000 feet above the valley while learning about glaciology through interpretive displays and witnessing the effects of climate change on North America's largest icefield south of the Arctic Circle.
