Tangle Falls

Tangle Falls is a multi-level waterfall standing 48 meters tall on the Icefields Parkway, where water drops over rocky ridges to form several smaller streams. These currents converge into a central cascade that flows with varying intensity depending on the season.

The Icefields Parkway was completed in the 1930s, making this waterfall accessible to travelers exploring the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The road fundamentally changed how people experienced the mountain parks in the region.

The waterfall stands as a natural landmark along the route connecting Banff and Jasper, drawing photographers throughout different seasonal transformations.

The waterfall can be reached directly from Highway 93 with a parking area close by. Restroom facilities are located across the road and are easy to access from the viewpoint.

During winter, the upper section freezes into ice formations while the lower portion continues to flow. This contrast between frozen and liquid water creates a striking visual effect that draws photographers during cold months.
