Jardin Botanique de Bingerville, Botanical garden in Bingerville, Ivory Coast.

The Jardin Botanique de Bingerville is a large recreation area spanning over 57 hectares with palm groves, bamboo tunnels, and numerous native plant species from the region. Pathways guide visitors through different zones of varied vegetation, allowing them to explore the local flora.

The garden was founded in 1904 under Governor Angoulvant's direction, reflecting the creation of colonial recreational spaces during that era. In 1991, it received official recognition as a historical monument through a government decree.

Different sections of the garden bear the names of prominent figures, creating areas that hold local significance for the community. These dedications reflect how the space serves as a place of collective memory and identity.

The grounds are open to visitors daily from early morning until late afternoon, with guided tours available by arrangement if desired. Allow plenty of time to explore the different sections comfortably, especially if you want to learn more about the plant collections.

Ancient cheese trees dot the landscape and provide shade over a refreshment stand where visitors can rest during their walk. These trees serve as a visible reminder of the site's long existence.
