Tour Postel 2001, Commercial high-rise building in Plateau, Ivory Coast
Tour Postel 2001 is a 105-meter high-rise office building with 26 floors located in the business district. The facade features mirrored windows with metal sun-blocking fins that give it a uniform appearance.
The building opened in 1984 as an office tower designed to house four government ministries. It was created by architect Pierre Fakhoury, who brought together Ivorian and Lebanese design influences.
The tower reflects how Abidjan shaped its business district during the 1980s, standing out among other structures with its clean lines and practical design approach. Today it remains a visible symbol of the city's ambitions during that period of development.
The tower sits on Rue Jesse Owens in the heart of the business district, making it easy to find. A complete renovation in 2017 updated the interior facilities and systems.
The building's original glass walls were pink and reflected the sky, giving it a completely different look from today. The 2017 renovation removed this distinctive feature, replacing it with the current metallic appearance.
