Hanalei Beach, Beach in Kauai, United States.
The two-mile crescent shaped bay features white sand shores against a background of emerald mountains and cascading waterfalls into crystal waters.
The beach gained international recognition when it appeared in major Hollywood productions, including the 1958 film South Pacific and the 2011 movie The Descendants.
Native Hawaiians have long used the Hanalei River meeting the bay for traditional fishing practices and water-based transportation between settlements.
Visitors can access three separate parking areas along the beach: near Nualolo Road, by Hanalei Pier, and at Black Pot Beach Park.
During winter months, the eastern section of the bay transforms into a premier surfing location with waves reaching substantial heights for experienced surfers.
