Hideaways Beach

Hideaways Beach is a beach in Princeville on Kauai's North Shore, located beneath dramatic ocean cliffs and featuring white sand and clear water. The water holds coral reefs filled with tropical fish and sea turtles, and the beach splits into two distinct sections with different swimming conditions depending on reef structure.

The beach formed through natural geological processes that shaped the steep cliffs and created the sheltered coves below. Its current name combines both identities: Pali Ke Kua from Hawaiian tradition and Hideaways because of its concealed location.

The name reflects its hidden position beneath towering cliffs, something you realize as soon as you arrive at the water's edge. For locals, this sheltered spot has long served as a quiet retreat away from the more traveled beaches nearby.

To reach it, you follow a steep trail with metal railings that takes about 15 minutes, starting from the St. Regis Hotel parking area. Wear appropriate footwear and prepare yourself physically, especially if you plan to scramble down the rocks at the end.

Many visitors do not know that you can also reach the beach by kayak from Hanalei Bay, which is how local communities have accessed this place for a long time. This alternative route connects you directly with the water and offers a completely different perspective on the location.
