Madame Tussauds Dubai, Art gallery in Bluewaters Island, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Madame Tussauds Dubai is a wax figure museum on Bluewaters Island, an artificial island off the coast of Jumeirah Beach in Dubai. The figures are spread across several themed zones, each dedicated to a different category of well-known personalities from around the world.
Marie Tussaud began making wax masks of French Revolution victims in Paris in the late 18th century before bringing her collection to London, where she opened a permanent exhibition in 1802. Over the following decades, the brand grew into a global chain, and the Dubai location was part of its expansion into the Middle East.
The Dubai location features figures from the Arab world and Bollywood alongside global stars, reflecting the tastes of a very mixed audience. Visitors from South Asia and the broader Middle East often recognize faces that are rarely found in other branches of this museum chain.
The museum sits on Bluewaters Island, reachable on foot or by car from the mainland via a bridge connected to the Jumeirah Beach area. Once inside, allow at least a couple of hours to walk through all the zones comfortably and take photos.
Every figure is built using around 500 precise measurements taken directly from the real person, covering details as small as the distance between the eyes and the shape of the ears. The hair is often inserted strand by strand by hand, a process that alone can take weeks.
