Muara Beach

Muara Beach is a public strand in Brunei spanning roughly 11 hectares of sand with views of cargo vessels approaching the nearby port. The site includes walking paths, sports courts, prayer facilities, and designated areas for camping and picnicking.

Allied forces landed here in 1945, during World War II, to recapture the region in an amphibious operation then called Green Beach. This military action became a defining moment in the beach's history and is commemorated at the site.

Local families gather at the shaded barbecue areas on weekends to cook and spend time together by the water. The beach serves as a social gathering place where coastal traditions and modern leisure blend.

The beach is easy to access and offers ample space for relaxation, with paved paths and designated picnic areas. Visitors should come prepared for sun exposure and can use the prayer facilities when needed.

A memorial standing here commemorates the military cooperation between Brunei and Australia during wartime and was built in 2010. It tells a story of international connection that has been preserved across more than seven decades.
