The Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway forms a 50-mile circuit connecting seven distinct districts through Minneapolis with dedicated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board developed this pathway system during the 1930s as part of Civilian Conservation Corps projects during the Great Depression.

The pathway links numerous Minneapolis landmarks including Saint Anthony Falls, Minnehaha Park, Chain of Lakes district, and Theodore Wirth Park through interconnected green spaces.

The system includes 51 miles of cycling paths and 51 miles of walking trails, enabling users to traverse the city while avoiding main traffic arteries.

This urban trail network represents the longest continuous system of public parkways in the United States, incorporating natural features, constructed amenities, and recreational facilities.
