The Grand Ring, Wooden structure at Yumeshima-naka, Japan
The Grand Ring is a temporary timber construction on the artificial island of Yumeshima-naka in Osaka, Japan. The circular structure stands twenty meters tall and extends over two kilometers.
Work on the ring began in February 2025 for the Osaka World Exposition. The structure was built as a symbol for the expo and will be dismantled after its conclusion.
The name refers to the circular shape that forms an open loop with no beginning or end. Visitors can walk beneath the roof and observe the timber surfaces up close.
The ring is accessible daily and provides shade along the entire walkway. The ground beneath the structure remains level and can be walked without difficulty.
The structure was recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest wooden architectural construction. The area covers more than sixty thousand square meters (645,835 square feet) and surpasses previous records.
